The Journey through speaker one

and the escape

The Ur Gearuasch Kammer Ensemble live at the speaker cabinet (number one) at Villa Empain, Brussels, BE on nov 20th.

A small advice for the journey

(1) Prepare yourself for a trip, a long trip.

(2) Turn the amplifier on. Let the sound come to you. Wait and react.

(3) There is more narrative in an open improvisation than in most written out music.

(4) Improvisation is an extreme form of music making. The risks
you take are those of a window cleaner dangling on the outside of a skyscraper. Bare in mind that improvisation is no easy way out.

(5) Your instrument is your spiritual advisor. If you listen closely, it will take you to unknown territory, without fear.

(5b) You can play the damn thing, just do it.

(6) The music is less improvised than some might think. The output, the music, is part of the package. It is a maternal language, and alike to so many other given things which is part of everyone’s daily journey.

(7) Energy is the true moment. You cannot direct it, not yours, nor the energy of the audience. Energy even out rules the electric power of the amp. The core of improvisation.
